Smart TVs just keep getting smarter—or at least more smart TV services. The music subscription service Deezer just announced that it will be coming to a TV near you. Well, if the TV near you is an LG, Samsung or Toshiba.
Deezer just signed an agreement with all three companies, to bring its global music service to smart TVs by those manufacturers. Available in more than 180 countries, Deezer includes over 20 million on-demand music tracks.
Deezer subscribers will enjoy access to playlists, recommendations and more. If you don’t have a subscription, there’s a free discovery mode, which offers unlimited acess to thousands of artist-based and themed radio channels. Listeners can also browse the Deezer library to get 30-second clips of any available track.
“We are committed to delivering a music revolution. Deezer is already available directly via a number of hi-fis and in-car entertainment systems—and of course on most smartphones, tablets and PCs—but we believe that putting Deezer at the heart of the TV experience marks the next innovation for music,” says Axel Dauchez, Deezer’s CEO. “For many of us, the living room is the heart of the home, and we want Deezer to be a part of that.”
Deezer currently has more than three million paying subscribers. The company also just launched free, global, ad-supported streaming.
Samsung plans to offer Deezer on all of its European smart TVs produced from 2011 on. LG will provide access worldwide to all sets from 2011 to the present. Toshiba will deliver the service to Europe and MEA/Asia, Pacific users with sets dating back to 2011, but only the 2013 users will get the service in the U.S. [via Engadget]
