I love coupon codes. If you’re buying something anyway, they feel like free money. Other times, a coupon code can be so big it nudges you to buy something you might not have even been considering. Any time a code takes off more than 50 percent, I take note. When that code translates to $900 off of a product rarely seen below MSRP, I have to write about it.
NewEgg is offering the Yamaha YSP-4000SL sound bar for only $699 after coupon code YAMAHA42X9. What Yamaha calls a “sound projector” normally carries an MSRP of $1,599 and the best authorized price I’ve seen elsewhere is $999.
If you want absolute sound quality but just can’t break away from the sound bar form factor, this is one of the best options out there.
The YSP-4000SL is one of the few bars I’ve ever heard to create a convincing surround effect without noticeable phase issues or echo. It also carries many of the features of a full-fledged AVR including analog-to-HDMI up-conversion and decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS surround formats.
