Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good movie night, courtesy of Vudu.

The set-top box on-demand movie provider is offering a “Christmas Special” on its website that offers customers its Movie Player box for only $99—down from $299. Of course, the fine print on this deal isn’t even in fine print: the player is $99 with the addition of purchasing $50 worth of movie credits, so that’s $149 total.

Still, it’s no slouch of a deal considering that Vudu’s been earning some justifiable praise for both the quality of its HDX rentals, and the quantity of high-def titles (more than 1,100 at last count) you can choose from as you settle in for movie night.

Not to mention that Vudu just added a spiffy interface for selecting and viewing web content, too.

As a bonus, Vudu also cut its wireless kit in half as well, down to $49 if you wanted to add that to create a $198 holiday bundle of video joy.

We don’t know if the deal goes through all 12 days of Christmas, or just till the end of December, so hop on it while you can and it’ll give you one more reason to avoid the last-minute mall shoppers.
