If you drink the marketing kool aid, every TV should be wall-mounted and enjoyed solely by snuggling beautiful couples. Fortunately, that’s a bit off from the real world where (I suspect) most TVs still sit atop a cabinet and it’s viewers resemble, well, me and you (no offense).
I agree, there are a some advantages to hanging your flatscreen on the wall - it can help with line-of-site issues if you’re room is long and/or multi-rowed, it frees up some floor space, and yes, it does look cool. However, your gear is gonna have to go somewhere (closet?) and once that baby is hung, it ain’t moving (renters beware). Then there’s the wires.
So, back to our deal - the Sammy 56” DLP HL56A650. You won’t be hanging this 80lb set on your wall, not without some serious reframing. On the plus side, it does have a nice list of features that rival its thinner competition. They include 1080p (1920 x 1080 res), Cinema Smooth™ and DNIe™ technologies, NTSC / ATSC, Clear QAM tuners, 3 HDMI inputs (2 rear, 1 side), a Wiselink® USB connection for your mp3 player/digital camera, and SRS TruSurround XT™ if you’re not piping the audio through a receiver (shame on you).
But bang for buck, especially at $1000 off, this is a set that has received good reviews since it’s release (early 2008). If TV as wall art isn’t your thing this deal might be worth checking out.
