If you’re among those who think that ultra-expensive cables and wire don’t add a whole lot more to your electronics system than the cheap stuff, we heard about some cheap-stuff HDMI you might like.

And yes, when it comes to HDMI, we hear it all the time that web shopping can be a bit more prudent than the big-box stores. Meritline has you covered with an instant savings deal on its pair of 6-foot HDMI cables—only $5.99 shipped.

Funny thing is, this deal is basically a 40 percent savings, but that percentage only translates to $4 bucks because the regular price is a mere $9.99 for the pair.

Sure, we can’t say how these puppies would fare under DPL Laboratories stringent HDMI testing, but Meritline says they’re 30-gauge, transfer signals up to 5 Gbps, are shielded from RFI and EMI interference, and even have premo gold plating.

We’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing things in 720p and 1080p just fine, and hearing those wonderful multichannel sound mixes—but maybe just be crossing our fingers anyway after hooking up our system.

CrunchGear adds that if you need to bump up to 10-foot HDMI, Meritline’s got those for just $11 shipped, too.
