Remember the good ol’ days when you could get all your favorite films on DVD for $15 the week they were released?
Remember heading out to your local big-box store on Tuesday afternoon during your lunch hour to pick up great discs like Braveheart and Gladiator?
Remember how Blu-ray built up hopes and dreams of high-definition physical media only to pull you crashing back down to earth with high disc prices ... and then kick your dog and marry your high-school sweetheart just for good measure?
Well, today you can relive the glory days of affordable release-week DVDs, only slightly adjusted for inflation, and in shinny blue (or is it Sapphire?) cases.
Pick up the first two releases in Paramount’s new “Sapphire Series” premium 2-disc Blu-ray releases, Braveheart and Gladiator, and receive $10 off the combined total at Best Buy. This makes the pre-tax total $35.98, or $17.99 each.
If that doesn’t bring back memories of a bygone era with a high-definition flare, well I don’t know what will.

Also don’t forget, Paramount gives you an additional $10 back by mail on each disc if you already own the DVD. Thus bringing the price down to $7.99/disc.
Unfortunately, there is no such love for us Canadians from BestBuy….I bought both titles ($26.99 ea) with no promos or rebates in sight…. :(
I love me some best buy.
