Warner Brothers is letting you go all “Mystery Science Theater 3000” on “The Dark Knight” next week.
With the Batman Blu-ray expected to shatter sales records with its release next Tuesday, December 9 (MSRP $35.99), Warner unveiled some of the BD-Live interactive features that you’ll be able to enjoy with compatible players (especially those Denons that offer the movie free).
Among the highlights is “My WB Commentary,” which will give viewers with webcams the ability to record their own commentary to run onscreen—picture-in-picture style—along with the movie that you can also share online with friends, says High-Def Digest. That’ll be a surefire hit with old MST3K fans who love the film chatter—even if ‘Dark Knight’ isn’t ridiculous like the movies that show lampooned.
There’s also a planned “My Community Screening” feature to let you chat with others online during real-time community viewings of the film—Warner apparently is trying to schedule one such community screening with director Christopher Nolan that will work as a live Q&A chat during the film, but there’s no confirmation yet.
So if you’re a “Dark Knight” fan with plenty to say about the movie, but had to work hard to keep your mouth shut while you were in the theater, get that script prepared and get ready for your close-up!
