D-Link is slowly wedging itself into the Electronic House category. Fresh off introducing the Wi-Fi Smart Plug, the company just announced a trio of new products under its Connected Home line.
First up is the new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor. Also known as the DCH-S150, this product can send users push or text notifications whenever motion is detected. It’s also insanely easy to use. First, plug it into an open power outlet. Then, press the WPS button on the sensor and the WPS button on your existing router. That’s it!
D-Link also released the mydlink Home mobile app, which is free for both iOS and Android devices. This allows for control over the aforementioned Smart Plug and the Wi-Fi Motion Sensor from anywhere, anytime. It also allows you to pair those two products. That way, you can have the lights turn on when someone walks into the room, shut off a fan when you leave the room, and more.
Last in the new lineup is the AC1900 Wi-Fi Router. Also known as the DIR-880L (D-Link loves to name everything twice!), this unit promises super-fast 11AC Wi-Fi speeds for all of your networking needs. It has dual-band technology, so you can do simple web surfing on the 2.4GHz band, saving the 5GHz band for more demanding web-based activities.
“D-Link’s Wi-Fi Motion Sensor, along with Wi-Fi Smart Plugs and Wi-Fi Cameras, provide a complete Connected Home Solution that gives our customers the peace of mind that comes from knowing their home—and everything in it—is safe and sound while they’re away,” said Daniel Kelley, vice president of marketing of D-Link Systems, Inc. “The ability to control devices remotely, automate electronics and get a quick view of what’s happening at home from virtually anywhere puts our customers in the driver’s seat of their home security solutions.”
D-Link is selling the Wi-Fi Motion Sensor for $39.99, with the AC1900 Wi-Fi Router priced at $189.99. The free mydlink Home app is also available now from iTunes and the Google Play Store.
