Indy… the torch is going out!

Not quite. The latest installment of the Indiana Jones saga has grossed $770 million worldwide. Now it looks like Paramount wants to add to that total with four versions of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” on DVD.

The two-disc Special Edition DVD ($39.99) and Blu-ray ($39.99) versions will be loaded with extras. There’s also a barebones single-disc standard-def version ($29.99). Finally, for the few of you that still don’t have the first three flicks, the company will package the previously released “Complete Adventure Collection” with the new two-disc standard-def installment for $90.

The Blu-ray version will have two discs. Aside from the movie, it will include plenty of “timelines,” production featurettes, and and info on the making of a legend. Both have 1080p, as expected. Unfortunately, both will also have 5.1 Dolby True HD—as expected. I wonder which release will finally get graced with 7.1?

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will be released on Blu-ray and standard-def DVD on October 14.

Are you serious? I wouldn’t pay this much for a Blu-Ray let alone a 480p.
