It seems like it’s been a while since Vivitek brought a new home theater projector to the market—the company has been busy with its popular series of Qumi pico projectors. At CES this year Vivitek went back to its big screen business with a brighter and higher contrast model, the H1185HD.
The new H1185HD is a single chip 3D DLP projector that puts out 2,500 ANSI lumens. Brightness is a key factor in how your picture will look, especially in a multi-use media room where you want a bit of ambient light on. The other big spec is contrast, and the H1185HD can product a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The Vivitek unit can also be a bit of a money saver because the lamp life has been boosted to 5,000 hours.
The projector uses Texas Intrument’s DarkChip3 DLP engine with BrilliantColor. The unit includes DLP link to control the 3D glasses.
For users who just want a projector to pull out for occasional use, the Vivitek includes built-in 10 Watt speakers with SRS Wow technology.
The Vivitek H1185HD is available now for $1,499.
