We have the VK-42F240S, which is fantastic and was the same price. I don’t know why Westinghouse doesn’t receive more publicity.
Is the price of the westinghouse 42’ tv’s for real? If so, iwhere can I purchase one before it’s too late.
We want to get one of these too. Where can we purchase it?
I just bought one of these At BJ’s wholesale club for $650. I love it so far.
I also have the same 42” 1080P, at least if this is the same model released last year.
After careful experimentation, here are my calibrated settings if you want a really good balanced (standard/movie theatre) look. I
It’s not too bright or too dim, and perfect for watching HD programs, SD programs, or some Blue Ray discs.
step1, first set TV back to factory defaults
step2, I usually set TV to turn off completely instead of sleep (under power management), and also option to disable the blue LED power light
step3, I disable auto HDMi switch. BTW, use the TV remote when changing between HDMI devices and then press enter. If you just use the “input” button on your dish/satellite remote, it may not accept the correct hdmi device and instead go to an HDMI unused port, hence no signal
I have found the Westinghouse is a very underrated TV. I compared many other brands but always go back to the Westinghouse. Westinghouse has really good scalers for SD material/SD programming, and good and balanced colors.
My perfect settings!
Brightness 40
Contrast 62
Saturation 40
Hue 45
Sharpness 0
Backlight 20-30
Color Temp Warm
Dynamic Contrast I Leave On as it seems to give black levels a nice deep color. Other people recommend to turn it off (your mileage may vary)
best regards!
Forgot to mention, this happens very very rarely but in case you cannot get the unit to power on, or the image is distorted or discolored, unplug the power cable to the TV for about 5 minutes, then plug it back on.
I believe this happens with other sets and it has to do with HDMI handshaking.
For best use, I normally turn on my devices first and LCD TV last. That way the TV gets to initiate hdmi handshaking during powerup, and the other device/s are already on.
From the start, my tv had power issues and handshaking issues. After about 20 months you will get burn in on the LCD TV. At 2 years (which is a terribly short period of time for electronics) my LCD 1080p 42” Westy is DEAD. A piece of CRAP. Terrible customer service.

A new CEA study says that more builders are offering all types of technology.
It’s hard to imagine life without remote controls, but it’s been a long, strange path to the modern incarnation we know and love today.
How is this set different from the F430S?
