The installers worked around design challenges like an existing stone fireplace and additions such as heavy wood detail and a coffered ceiling.

This reminds me of throwing a cucumber down a pair of spandex pants.

Why spend all that money on a home theater and not center the screen?  Who wants such a large room with the screen scrunched into the corner?

I agree with the two comments above. Unbelievable that this was a finalist for Best Theater. Speakers under the screen means first reflections off the floor and a back row where sound is most likely obstructed by the headrests in the front row. Should have at least used an acoustically transparent screen!

This has got to be the dumbest room layout I have ever seen.

With all due respect to the gentlemen who had posted the negative comments about this Theatre, let me shed a bit of light on the technical and creative process involved in shaping a difficult room, such as this one.  First of, the left and right main speakers are placed to the left and right of the screen, behind the acoustically transparent wall fabric.  The center channel and the subwoofers are placed below the screen, which is universally acceptable practice.  Not every Theatre boasts a perf screen…  Secondly, the screen is placed on the center line of the room, relative to the placement of the seats and the coffered ceiling.  Because of the fireplace and the recesses on either side of that fireplace, the right side of the screen shows more wall space than the left side.  That’s just reality!  Thirdly, this Theatre is the only elegant and timeless looking one of all the others, deserving the type of recognition that a winning design should get.  And you, with the “pickle” comment: keep it in your pants, don’t embarrass yourself!

No, that’s just dumb. You obviously didn’t give much creative thought to the layout of this theatre.

In your opinion. I and many others disagree. This theatre has no place in any awards recognition contest.

wow.

A big reflective fireplace on the side of the room?

crazy.  what a stupid idea.

ceiling is pretty cool, but that is the only redeeming feature to the room.
