Depending on the distance, a hardwired cable may be the best option for getting Internet access to an outside structure.

I agree that wireless won’t work here; however, I think cat5 isn’t going to work either.  At 300 feet, it’s probable that you’ll get ground differences, which’ll give you all sorts of problems.  The solution here is fiber.

What’s wrong with 802.11N?  It has twice the range of G and is readily available.

What about Satellite Internet?  Tht could make sense in a scenario like this.

Surprised you didn’t say wireless N (802.11N) which has gone standard and should reach 300’.  If not, he could put a repeater somewhere where he has power.

Ruckus Wireless controller-based unified system. Use one ZoneDirector 1006 and two 7762 outdoor access points. One ap hard wired to the system and the other ap runs on SmartMesh.

I will bet you steak dinner that this will work and if we all tried to implement our ideas, I’d be the first one to finish :)
