Pure business - Microsoft can’t sell any at the previous price considering stand-alone Toshiba players are going for $150.
I predict another price drop before they are able to sell any - $130 is still too close to $150. Why buy a featureless add-on when you can get a full futured player in a dying format for $20 more?
Very good news! But they are still quite a bit expensive for me! ><
good news.I have been tracking news about Microsoft all day and finally got such piece of info thanx for sharing
Wow Rorkimaru. So like all console owners know HD-DVD is doomed, but apparently people who read this web site would not know that? Because otherwise why would you need to be the token person posting in an HD-DVD thread about how it is doomed? Everybody already knows that right? Right? I guess the pro-BR posts are directly proportional to HD-DVD hardware sales. Both have increased sharply in the last couple of weeks.
“do you think anyone would be stupid enough to buy one now? Console owners (id hope) are pretty tech savy and would know not only that HD-DVD is a dieing format but that the xbox’s player got woeful reviews in terms of quality.”
Yeah, but it comes with King Kong! King Kong!
;P
If only the Wii played hddvd’s.
You are so right Jeff. Why buy a dying format that looks better on most hdtv’s when you can get a format you hope will be around a few years from now at 3 times the price!
Uhhhh, well anyway
Go Aaron, and take Jeff with you!

Uh, I was quoting someone else, much like I am quoting you right now… Thank you for playing though.
My bad Jeff. I did not know you were quoting Aaron. You can stay.
Rorkimaru can go with Aaron.
Actiondvdguy, He was quoting Rorkimaru not me. I made the post about how it was a sound business decision for MS and the reason why.
Should TV manufacturers offer dumbed-down TVs that focus on image quality rather than apps?
Centralized home control and automation plus boatload of A/V options including dropdown theater screen revitalize 12K-square-foot home.

Say hello to home control in this high-tech palace, circa 2006.

if you think the low price is a good deal dont. the studios still producing HD-DVD are just running out their contracts. Dont waste your money!
