Does it make sense to buy a 1080p TV, if the only way you can trully get 1080p is through an hd dvd player? I was told that there aren’t any channels that broadcast in 1080p, and probably won’t for a few years. Is this true?

That is false. Hawaii is broadcasting in 1080p and the rest of the states are soon to follow thanks to the digital tv mandates. Now I wouldn’t by an 1080P right now becuase as they are “new” they are still expensive.

I was by someone who works for a MAJOR cable company that no stations broadcast in 1080p-there simply isn’t enough bandwidth to do so.  1080p works well for HD DVD or Blu Ray, but which one to choose?  I’m not sure if it’s really worth the money and the upgrade right now to do it.  Let’s let HD DVD and Blu Ray fight it out first and see who win’s the “survival of the fittest” battle.
