Shows you can do it without breaking the bank.  Also helps cost for existing space with pre-wiring.

And the gentleman does have taste with Serenity on the screen!

Thanks Rachel for nice article…

Reminds me of what I tried to accomplish. Built out my whole room including all gear, furniture, carpet, everything. Got it done for under $6K See:

Nice set up. It shows you can have a nice set up without having to go bankrupt. Congrats!

Nice, simple, and effective.  Would love to know more about the DIY subwoofer.  I’m doing two 7.1 surround setups in new house, ahve ran all the wiring inwall already, and surrounds are all installed in BR and wired in LR for speaker mounts and fronts, but want to upgrade to powered subs from passive, and DIY to save money would be great.  SOunds like yours are very nice, would like to see details on construction, parts, etc.

Thanks for the great article!

A few of my family members deserve some praise that wasn’t present in the article (my fault, when I start talking about my gear I become very focused).  My wife deserves credit for letting me have the entire 3rd floor bonus room for my HT, as well as for getting me the wall-art, popcorn machine, lamps, and TivoHD for Christmas.  My father and father-in-law both deserve credit for helping with the move-in and initial setup, as well as for helping with the screen-valence construction.  The mini-fridge that the popcorn stand sits on was a gift from my father-in-law.  My mother and mother-in-law also deserve credit for helping hang curtains.  Thanks again to everyone who helped!
