CodexNovus Media Servers Will Offer 1080p Video and Plenty of Storage
CodexNovus' HDcodex DML-400 and DML-1000 stand-alone servers will provide up to 400 GB and 1 TB of storage, respectively.
June 18, 2007 | by Arlen Schweiger

Media server manufacturer CodexNovus is keeping up with the Full HD game by bowing its HDcodex DML-400 and HDcodex DML-1000 stand-alone media servers that it says will provide video playback of high-def at resolutions up to a full 1920x1080 pixels in progressive scan mode, as well as standard SD playback.

The DML-400 offers 400 gigabytes of storage with flexibility and configuration options that support a wide range of media files, the company says, while the DML-1000 stores up to 1 terabyte. For surround music to go with the HD, they also deliver multi-channel 5.1 and 7.1 audio capabilities.

Users can work with existing add-on accessory devices like a DVD carousel, enabling the legal storage and playback of an entire DVD movie collection, including metadata (album, cover art, genre, etc), the company says, adding that the devices are field upgradeable.

The HDcodex DML-1000 is expected to be available in Q3 of this year with a retail price of $4,999, and the HDcodex DML-400 is expected in Q4, with an MSRP of $3,499.
