ClearView Audio Debuts Invisible Wireless Speaker - Or Do They?
The new Clio has an optically clear acrylic glass transducer to disperse sound.
January 22, 2014 by Rachel Cericola

If a speaker is invisible, how do you know it’s truly there? ClearView Audio is making its Clio well known. The newly announced invisible wireless speaker has a design that doesn’t detract from your room’s decor. That sound is certainly a standout, though.

The Clio has an ultra-thin, slightly curved, and optically clear acrylic glass transducer, which is barely visible. However, it’s not just a cool design element. That transducer can actually disperse sound waves in multiple directions.

Because the Clio has such a wide soundfield, it can be placed almost anywhere in a room. From there, the barely visible speaker will “disappear” into just about any backdrop.

Other features on the Clio include Bluetooth support and ClearView’s own Edge Motion technology, which uses a thin membrane along the side of the speaker to create piston-like motion in the front. That’s also what allows the speaker to be so thin and lightweight.

“We believe that good design, innovative engineering, and advanced acoustic technology are key to the enjoyment of audio in the home,” said Stefan Bokamper, CEO of ClearView Audio. “Clio is our first product available to consumers and we are thrilled to enter the exciting space of wireless speakers. We are confident Clio will be hugely popular due to its impressive sound, stylistic fit with any interior design, and versatile Bluetooth compatibility.”

The Clio is selling now, with options for a silver, dark bronze or charcoal base. ClearView has priced each one with an MSRP of $349.
