Cisco just announced its new Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router. This may look like your typical router in a slightly nicer chassis, but the real hook here is that the company is targeting the home theater crowd.
Designed to work with web-enabled TVs, the iPad, gaming consoles, smartphones, and every other A/V device or gadget, the new gateway promises to stream content at speeds of up to 300Mbps at 2.4GHz (450Mbps at 5.0GHz). Other features include four gigabit ports and a 3x3 MIMO configuration.
This latest entry also has a USB and UpnP features, making it easy to add extra storage or store, share and stream movies, music and games all over the house. The included Cisco Connect software will guide you through setup and network management tools, including parental controls and guest access.
