We’re already seeing LED lighting as the trendy and energy-friendly wave of new LCD flat-panel devices. But how about an LED-lit projector? Chilin Technology has debuted what it’s calling the first liquid-cooling LED light source projector—full HD 1080p projection, and no conventional lamp.

Questioning the ability? Chilin says it delivers 600 lumens of brightness and a wicked contrast ratio of 100,000:1. Plus it says the colors are pretty outrageous, with a 128 percent NTSC color gamut that it says is 80 percent greater than that produced by conventional UHP lamp projectors.

Chilin has partnered with Texas Instruments for its DMD technology and Luminus Devices for the PhlatLight LED technology to achieve this interesting high-end projector, which is being shown this week at the CEDIA Expo in Denver (photo courtesy Engadget HD). No word on pricing or distribution yet.

With no lamp replacement, Chilin says the projector has a lifespan of 50,000 hours under the liquid cooling technology, so your grandkids will still be enjoying this one, though they may need to get something to upconvert to 2160p or whatever resolution is en vogue then.
