The e-cycling event will take place this Saturday at Barretts Home Theater.
Still using that old printer as a doorstop? This Saturday may be the day that you reclaim that much needed space in your home.
Chicago residents are invited to an e-cycling event this Saturday at Barretts Home Theater. Sponsored by Waste Management, LG and Sony, the one-day event will welcome all of your old DVD players, tuners, stereo receivers, audio/video receivers and processors, stereo amplifiers, CD players and speakers—all free of charge.
Volunteers will also have coupons in hand, for discounts off future recycling services. If you recycle $500 to $1,000 worth of stuff, you’ll get $100, and so on.
“Our goal is to provide a channel for consumers to recycle equipment that would otherwise be thrown into our landfills,” says Joe Barrett, owner of Barretts Home Theater. “This is a special event for the community and the electronic industry, which is facing stricter guidelines from EPA for disposal of wastes. We’re hoping to set a standard of environmental consciousness for our peers as well.”
Barretts Home Theater is located at 576 South Route 59 in Naperville. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this Saturday.
