Father’s Day Contest: Win Your Dad a Big LCD
Charter Communications is running a contest through the end of June 6 for a chance to win your Dad a 65-inch LCD TV and free cable service for a year.
May 27, 2008 | by Arlen Schweiger

Here’s a gift your dad will love for Father’s Day—a 65-inch HDTV. What, can’t afford it? OK, OK, well, you can always try to win one for him; all you have to do is write a clever essay as to why he needs a new TV.

The folks at Charter Communications have opened up a contest with first prize being a 65-inch 1080p LCD television, plus a year of free HDTV cable, telephone and Internet service in the Charter Bundle. Four finalists will each get a free year of the Charter Bundle.

To enter you have to submit an essay of 250 words or less—that’s only a handful of paragraphs, to give you an idea—as to why your Dad deserves a shiny new TV. You can add an optional photo. If his setup contains a giant wooden cabinet, dials and rabbit ears covered in tinfoil, you might want to get that camera ready.

The contest runs until 11:59 p.m. on June 6, so you’ve got plenty of time to perfectly craft your essay. Unfortunately, if you live in New York, Rhode Island or Florida you’re not eligible. Of course, your Dad has to live in an area that receives Charter service, too.

Contest entries are only acceptable online, not through snail mail, so sign up at http://charter.com/HDdad

My dad is a gift for me. He is a down to earth person. He tend to be more practical to the situations and family loving....He is a (Retd) Govt. employee worked as a Checking Inspector in Tamilnadu Transport Corporation.  He was retired one month back he loves gardening, watering the plants and doing prayer in the morning with the flowers from the plants. He loves to listen and see all kinds of songs, movies especially devotional songs. He loves to read books and he feel it is the best friend for him which make him occupied. he’ll sit in his chair and lay back with a book in his hands. It’s so funny because he looks so relaxed just reading away.Similarly he likes to spend his time with the family and loves to watch television since it is the best entertaining friend for him. He loves to watch old movies which stop me watching sports channels. If he get one on his own then he will be very happy and watch it on his favorite wheel chair with his favorite books on his side so that when he get bored of the tv program he can either switch to reading or gardening. He will be excited to have one latest tech television to enjoy for the rest of his life…
