Kevin Garnett—NBA 2K9 cover boy
He may not have won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award this season, but you could easily make that case for Kevin Garnett. He’s battling with MVP Kobe Bryant and the Lakers for the title as this is written, with Garnett’s Celtics gaining the upper hand by taking Game 1 on Thursday night.
Well today’s extra special for KG—he’s been named cover boy for 2K Sports’ upcoming NBA 2K9 release.
Garnett, who did collect the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year honors, was pretty jazzed about being a cover boy, too. He showed his usual on-the-court intensity talking about being selected for the video game.
“NBA 2K is where it’s AT! End of story,” Garnett said in a statement. “It’s the game I play, the game my friends play, and the game anyone in the league serious about videogames plays. NBA 2K is the real deal, and until 2K Sports finds a way to plant an elbow in your chest, it’s the closest thing to actually being there on the court. I can’t tell you how pumped I am to be on the cover of NBA 2K9—it’s a real honor. Now watch out! Because this fall 2K Sports and I are going to deliver the best basketball video game out there, period.”
Gamers can look to slam dunk it into their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 this fall.
