How much of a super-geek are you? We may soon see.
Earlier this year, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced plans to offer Consumer Technology Enthusiast (CTE) memberships to consumers. When the plan goes into effect, anyone can become part of the CEA.
Now it looks like those memberships could be available any day now—and include a few pretty sweet privileges. First of all, CTEs are expected to take part in beta testing, with insider access to the industry. That means you could get your sweaty mitts on certain products before the rest of the public. Also, according to Twice, the first 1,000 CTEs will be invited to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
Until now, the biggest CE event of the year was limited to industry attendees. However, CTE members will be invited to attend the last day of the event, on January 9, 2011.
The CTE program will kick off on November 9, 2010 at the annual International CEA press event. There, the CEA is expected to announce CTE membership fees and other details of the program.
