Canton’s DSS 303 Digital Sound Station
It’s no secret that iPod accessories and enhancements are everywhere these days, and with more than 100 million of those great Apple devices sold, chances are the wave will continue. That’s a winning situation for everyone, since ways for us to enjoy our iPod music will continue to expand and improve.
The latest boombox-like solution for docking an iPod comes from German manufacturer Canton, which has introduced its DSS 303 Digital Sound Station desktop system for the iPod.
The $499 unit comes with integrated iPod dock and charger, FM/AM radio, clock, and auxiliary input.
Oh, and speakers of course. Canton’s has a 4-inch aluminum cone woofer, matched to the enclosure and amped for great bass and smooth midrange. A 1-inch fabric dome tweeter is mounted on-axis with the woofer for optimal imaging and full dynamics.
A 3.5-mm rear-panel line-in connection lets you pop in your iPod shuffle model, or even another portable digital music player. There’s also a rear-panel USB port so you can connect to a PC and use your iPod sync and downloading while it’s still in the DSS 303 cradle.
The Canton player comes in high-gloss white and black finishes that match most iPod models, and includes a credit-card style remote control.
