Cambridge Audio has been selling the Minx Air in the UK for a little while. Now, it’s time to share with the masses in the U.S. The company just debuted the Minx Air 100 and 200, a pair of compact wireless speaker systems.
Sure, there several tabletop solutions out there. However, the hook on these two is that each one should work with almost any smartphone, tablet or computer. That’s because each Minx Air model has integrated AirPlay, Bluetooth, and built-in Internet radio.
That AirPlay and Bluetooth make it easy to stream music wirelessly from just about any portable. Radio enthusiasts can also pair the Minx Air with the device’s free app for Apple or Android and tap into about 20,000 different web-based radio stations from around the world.
Both Minx Air models have patented BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) speakers for room-filling sound. Other features include Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and a scratch-resistant cabinet that has its own handle. Besides the stations, the app also has a range of EQ settings and a tutorial with step-by-step videos to help users discover all of the Minx Air’s features.
The Minx Air 100 is designed for smaller spaces, with a 14-inch cabinet that can crank 100 watts of power. The Minx Air 200 is 18 inches, with a 200-watt set of digital amplifiers and a built-in active 6.5-inch subwoofer.
Cambridge Audio is packing each Minx Air with a remote that delivers access to power, presets, volume and bass. The Minx Air 100 and 200 are both available directly from the manufacturer now priced at $449 and $599, respectively.
