It’s not an upscale resort, but the way this outdoor space has been decked out the family members can feel like they’re on vacation every day.
Dallas-based custom electronics pro Elliston Systems & Design outfitted the area with A/V akin to any indoor media room.
A 50-inch Samsung LCD, mounted above the outdoor fireplace, provides high-definition pictures supplied by any of the family’s four sources of video distribution (Escient media server and three HD satellite receivers). “Whether relaxing around the fire, grilling at the barbeque, or eating at the dining table guests can enjoy the spectacular picture quality from anywhere across the approximate 1,000 square foot structure,” says Elliston’s Brit Smart.
When video is not desired, the display remains perfectly hidden behind automated artwork of an Auton system, which raises and lowers through the command of an AMX remote.
The Lutron Homeworks lighting control system (also controllable through the remote) can set the appropriate mood for any desired occasion, while audio is delivered through a combination of two pair of Sonance Symphony in-ceiling speakers, along with two pair of Sonance Mariner eve speakers, providing access to any of five music sources (media server, CD, Dual Tuner, and XM).
And a Panasonic phone system, which provides gate/door entry to the main house, allows family and guests to relax in the outdoor getaway without having to lift a finger for unexpected visitors or late-arriving guests.
“All of this overlooks the beautiful pool and waterfall which separate the space from the main home,” says Smart, “creating a wonderfully elegant and relaxing outdoor living space.
