Iron Man was huge, but The Dark Knight is expected to crush Blu-ray sales records when it hits shelves on December 9. But is it enough to get you to buy a Blu-ray player?
How ‘bout if Batman Begins is thrown in as well? That’s what Denon is offering with the purchase of its select Blu-ray players.
Consumers who buy Denon’s DVD-1800BD player, DVD-3800BDCI player or DVD-2500BTCI Blu-ray transport can mail in their proof of purchase as well as a claim form and get the Batman double feature back in the mail.
You have to buy the Denon player between November 23, 2008, and January 10, 2009, to be eligible for the combo redemption of The Dark Knight/Batman Begins.
The bad news is that Denon’s options aren’t exactly the Blu-ray value plays for people looking to spend only a couple hundred bucks on a player this holiday season—the SRPs on the models are $749 for the DVD-1800BD, $1,999 for the DVD-3800BDCI and $1,199 for the DVD-2500BTCI.
The good news is that a quick scan on Amazon found the models retailing for $579, $1,489 and $899, respectively.
Not a bad way to christen your Blu-ray player—break it in with Batman Begins to whet your appetite to the sequel when it arrives. Let us know if you find other deals on the Denon players.
