Buffalo’s external MediaStation plays both HD DVD and Blu-ray, with BR recording features.
Buffalo just announced that its combo Blu-ray HD DVD drive will be available in the U.S. early this year.
This USB drive is easy to hook up, making playback of both high-def formats possible on a PC. The hook, however, is that it will also record—but only in Blu-ray.
The form factor also makes it easy to take on the go. High-def movies on a plane? While there might not be a whole lot of room in coach, I’d be willing to buy two seats for that kind of entertainment. (OK, I’d at least be willing to annoy the person next to me.)
The MediaStation Blu-ray HD DVD, which will also go by the jazzy name of the BRHC-6316U2, will be available in Q1 for $649.
