Ready to rock around the Christmas tree? You may not be ready for another round of holiday music. However, if your setup isn’t ready, Bryston wants to introduce you to the SP-3 processor/preamplifier.

The company just started shipping the highly anticipated component. The SP-3 is designed to do 2-channel stereo output, as well as 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 surround output modes. It can also decode the widely used Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats, as well as standard Dolby and DTS fare, in 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 channels.

Featuring Class A discrete analog circuitry throughout, the SP-3 uses separate and carefully isolated power supplies for the analog and digital circuit paths. It also has a modular construction to make future upgrades possible.

Bryston also says that the SP-3 is so easy to use, even a non-techie can appreciate the device. Most functions are automatic, controls are well labeled, and step-by-step setup menus are available.

“It was very important to the overall value proposition of the SP-3 that this product has real longevity in the marketplace,” stated Bryston’s James Tanner. “Considering the volatility of rapidly changing video formats, Bryston has chosen to simply pass the video signal through the SP-3 untouched to the display. This helps future-proof the SP-3 while emphasizing Bryston’s expertise in delivering the finest audio performance possible.”

The SP-3 features a variety of inputs and outputs, including eight HDMI inputs, four SPDIF COAX, three optical, a USB port, and much more.

Bryston’s SP-3 processor/preamplifier is available now, via authorized Bryston dealers worldwide. The company lists the MSRP as $9,500.
