Those with a pile of Bryston gear may be sitting on a pile of money, but that doesn’t crank up the CD player, baby. The Canadian company just announced the BR2 multifunction remote to take control of some of those Bryston goodies.
If you’ve got the aforementioned Bryston gear, that money pile may be slightly smaller than it used to be, but the BR2 runs for a mere $500. That’s actually very cheap in Bryston-land.
The company says it’s designed to deal with the company’s BCD-1 CD player, the BDA-1 outboard DAC, and plenty of Bryston integrated amplifiers and preamplifiers. What we don’t know is whether or not it will control other brands. If not, that’s kind of a bummer. We’re guessing it doesn’t either, because even on some of the Bryston products, it only does volume and mute functions.
“We had been in the process of designing an elegant remote just for the BDA-1 outboard DAC, when we realized that many consumers who purchase the DAC are likely to own other Bryston components,” says Bryston Sales VP James Tanner.
For those lucky individuals, the BR2 is available now.
