Bryston Boosts B-135 SST Amp Performance
Bryston says that its latest amplifier has more power than its predecessor, but for the same price.

After more than seven years, Bryston is upgrading one of its flagship products. The company says that the newly announced B-135 SST integrated amplifier is designed as a replacement for the older B-100 model.

Since it’s designed as an upgrade, the company is promising a little more performance. Bryston says that the B-135 SST can deliver 135 watts per channel into 8-Ohms and uses some of the company’s most advanced analog circuitry in the preamp section.

The Bryston B-135 SST has seven high-level inputs, a pass-through feature, one tape loop and a pre-out/main-in feature. Other B-135 features include separate ground paths for digital and analog sections, gold-plated five-way speaker binding posts and gold plated RCA/SPDIF input and output connectors. A full-featured remote control is optional.

Bryston promises an enhanced performance, but there is one thing that the company didn’t want to boost: the price. Bryston says that the B-135 SST will start shipping to authorized dealers in May for the same MSRP as the B-100. Look for the B-135 to start at $4,695, with an optional onboard DAC available for another $1,395 and a moving magnet phono stage costing $600.
