Bryston is wrapping up the year with a little something you wouldn’t mind finding wrapped under the tree. The company just announced the BDP-2 digital music player.

As the successor to the BDP-1, the BDP-2 is designed to work with larger digital music libraries and promises faster load times.

Other features include an Intel Atom processor and support for music on USB storage devices, with resolutions up to 24-bit/192kHz. The external device or thumb drive can be connected right to Bryston’s player, via USB. It has six USB 2.0 inputs with the option to upgrade to USB 3.0, as well as two RS-232 ports and two Gigabit Ethernet connections.

“The user interface and sonic qualities of the BDP-2 are identical to the BDP-1,” explained Bryston VP James Tanner. “We have given the BDP-2 NAS and eSATA drive connectivity, UPnP/DNLA client/server support and much more speed for those customers with very large libraries of music files. The BDP-2 is the logical step-up product in terms of features and functionality based upon the success we have had with the BDP-1.”

Bryston plans to keep the BDP-1 in the company’s lineup. The BDP-1 is available now for $1,995, with the BDP-2 coming in January 2013 for $2,995.
