When you start combining features into a product the footprint of that product usually grows. Soon you’ve got a beast that you’d rather hide away in your closet than keep out for everyone to admire. Braven has this problem licked with its new Six Series speaker. In addition to using Bluetooth technology to play tunes from your smartphone, it can let you take an incoming call. You can speak to the caller, just as you would from a speakerphone thanks to the tiny speaker’s built-in duplex microphone. You can also converse via FaceTime, iChat or Skype. Meanwhile, you can use the speaker to charge your USB devices.
So how big is the Six Series speaker? Just 6 inches long and 12 ounces, making it easy to tote around with you to the beach, the pool … anywhere, really. Made of aircraft-grade aluminum, it’s available in Moab Red or Mountain Ask. One of the models—the 625—comes housed in a rugged shock-absorbent rubber that’ll help protect it from the knocks it might take on an outdoor adventure.
If 3 watts isn’t enough, the speakers, which have a battery life from 12 to 20 hours, can be daisy chained together or connected to other sound systems via a 3.5 mm jack. They sell for between $149.99 and $189.99, and are available at here.
