Boxee Box is Finally Coming - No Really!
D-Link and Boxee say that the long-awaited super-streaming set-top will start shipping next month.

Anyone see a pig fly by their window? Today, D-Link and Boxee announced that their long-awaited Boxee Box by D-Link will start shipping next month.

Starting November 10, the box will ship to customers who pre-ordered the device through Amazon, Best Buy and Canada’s Future Shop. A week later, everyone will be able to get it through various retailers and online distributors.

Sounds like they are timing this thing perfectly with Google TV, no? First announced at the end of 2009, the compact box boasts streaming from your home computer, as well as TV shows, movies, music and more from the web. The box does support 1080p HD, as well as 5.1 surround sound—all for about $199 (street price). The big hook, however, is that you can try before you buy, via a software download on Boxee’s website.

“We’ve seen amazing demand for the Boxee Box across all of our pre-order partners in the US and internationally,” said Rod St. Michel, VP of consumer sales at D-Link. “Consumers are looking for the right product to get their favorite TV shows and movies onto their TV from the Internet and their home network, and the Boxee Box is the friendliest, and most consumer-ready product currently available.”
