The British audio company Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) is one of the most well known speaker companies in the entire world, with a portfolio of products featuring everything from traditional high-performance floorstanding loudspeakers and subwoofers, to desktop speakers and Apple AirPlay enabled all-in-one speaker solutions.
Just in time for spring, B&W announced its AM-1 outdoor loudspeaker.
The loudspeaker adds to the company’s recent audio goodies like the Panorama 2 soundbar-type product and the CI 800 architectural models.
The AM-1 speaker is available in a choice of black or white, and the two-way speaker features a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and a 5-inch glass fiber midrange driver. B&W aligns the tweeter below the woofer and the company says this driver arrangement ensures better sound dispersion when the speaker is mounted high on a wall.
The AM-1 also features a rear-mounted bass radiator to help augment its low frequency capabilities, and the company points out that it can be mounted vertically or horizontally to accommodate a range of installation scenarios.
Designed to withstand the harshness of outdoor installations so you’ve got peace of mind while you’re not out there in the winter, the AM-1 speaker employs an enclosure made from a combination of glass-filled plastics and a rust-proof aluminum grille protects the drivers. B&W says the cabinet can stand up to UV rays, dust, moisture and cold, and that the speaker can be used for home and commercial installations.
