Leave it up to a renowned Boston-area chef to rock out to speakers with ‘Boston’ in their name.

The Blue Ginger in Wellesley, MA, underwent an expansion earlier this year, and chef Ming Tsai’s lauded restaurant turned to Boston Acoustics to add some music to the atmosphere.

Boston Acoustics turned to custom installer Andrew Himmer and Audio Video Experience of Hampton Falls, NH, to outfit the restaurant with 28 in-ceiling speakers—24 PRi685CV models and four PRi85SubCV models.

“In creating our new space for Blue Ginger, we wanted to balance the visual and audio surroundings in such a way that people would enjoy great sounding music wherever they sit, and the audio experience would perfectly match with the décor as well,” says Tsai, who is the star of the PBS TV show “Simply Ming” that highlights his East-West cooking style. “The Boston Acoustics in-ceiling loudspeakers, while completely hidden from view, help to create exactly the type of luxurious and comfortable environment that makes Blue Ginger special.”

Blue Ginger’s lounge-bar area, in particular, featuring 10 of the Boston Acoustics speakers enhances the ambiance of the restaurant and whets the appetite even greater while waiting for a table—after all, a drink or two lends itself to an enjoyable listening experience.

We had the opportunity to spend an evening last week at the Blue Ginger—which is celebrating its 10th year in 2008—and can report that the Boston Acoustics-infused entertainment is music to chef Ming’s ears, and everyone else’s. Just another reason for Boston-area food connoisseurs to get a taste of Blue Ginger.
