Bose has just announced two enhanced versions of its popular 3-2-1 DVD Home Entertainment System with the introduction of its new 3-2-1 GS and 3-2-1 GSX Series III systems. According to Bose, these new systems will offer the same high-quality audio as their predecessors; the new models will finally include HDMI output allowing for perfect connectivity to high-definition televisions. The main unit can upconvert DVDs to 1080p. Using Bose proprietary technology, a home theater experience is derived from only two visible speakers and a subwoofer.

The Bose TrueSpace digital circuitry works with Dolby Digital, DTS, and Bose Videostage 5 decoding circuitry, which helps the 3-2-1 system deliver much of the performance of a five-speaker home theater system. The new systems utilize two proprietary Gemstone speaker arrays that include neodymium iron boron magnets to provide rich, full sound for both movies and music. Each system includes an Acoustimass module, which is a media center with a built-in DVD/CD player and an AM/FM tuner. It features audio inputs for three additional sources plus a universal remote that will allow it to control most attached devices. To expand the audio capabilities throughout the home, the new 3-2-1 systems also include Bose Link circuitry, and can be easily connected, according to Bose, to its Lifestyle 38 and Lifestyle 48 home entertainment systems.

Building on all of the features found on the 3-2-1 GS system, the 3-2-1 GSX Series III system further adds Bose’s proprietary uMusic intelligent playback system. This circuitry will reportedly digitally store and organize the contents of hundreds of CDs – up to 200 hours of music. At the same time, Bose says that it will learn a user’s listening preferences and prioritizes music selections automatically.

The 3-2-1 GS and GSX Series III systems are available in either graphite gray or silver speaker arrays directly from Bose. The 3-2-1 GS system is priced at $999, and the 3-2-1 GSX system is priced at $1,499.

This is great. Now I am truly considering this system. It was great before but the lack of HDMI was a deal breaker. Thanks Bose.

The Acoustimass is a base module speaker and amplifier for the unit. It does not house the DVD/CD player. The receiver and DVD/CD player are housed in a seperate media center from which all audio/video connections are made.
