How can something that looks so pretty sound so awful? HDTVs aren’t really known for having great sound. You can dedicate the time and the space to a full-blown sound system or give that TV a little boost with something like the Bose Solo TV.

Bose just announced this single-speaker product, which is designed for everyday TV watching. It includes Bose digital signal processing and the company’s speaker array technology, promising better dialogue, music, action and sound effects. Also, it’s easy to install.

The Solo TV System connects via one cable to the TV and one plug to the wall. That’s it; no wiring or tweaking is needed. The unit also comes with its own remote, but should be compatible with your beloved universal controller.

Measuring just 2.8-by-20.7-by-12 inches, the speaker was designed to sit under flat-panel TVs with a base up to 20 inches wide and 10.25-inches deep. In other words, it should pair up nicely with TVs between 32 and 42 inches.

“TV picture quality has improved over the years, but its audio quality hasn’t,” said Doug Lankford, Bose’s director of home theater product marketing. “The Bose Solo TV sound system was developed for the love of TV—for people who don’t want a home theater system. It delivers detailed sound at any volume, without the complications or intrusions of multiple components. One listen, and you’ll realize how much you’ve been missing in your favorite shows.”

Bose will start selling the Solo TV system on August 30, 2012. Expect to see it listed with an MSRP of $399.95.

I purchased the Solo system because my tv (Vizio) was not loud or clear enough. I can say that this was one of the best thing to come from Bose since I bought my first one in’95. Thanks to Bose!!

Can the Bose Solo TV System be used with a 50inch HDTV?  If not, can it be placed in front of the TV?
