We’ve heard a lot of you gripe about the quality of digital audio. Bongiovi Acoustics wants to spruce up your digital music with the Bongiovi DPS (Digital Power Station) app.

Bongiovi promises the same patented audio re-mastering technology that was born in the infamous Power Station Studios, but inside a much smaller package. This technology can also be found in various Toyota vehicles, as well as iHome Studio Series docking stations.

Now, it’s also available as an app, which was just updated for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Once you download the Bongiovi DPS, you can play all of your audio and video right through the app for a better overall experience or to tweak for your listening environment.

“Poor audio quality from new media formats like MP3 files and streaming video is a digital problem and we’ve solved it with an innovative digital solution,” says Ron Simmons, Bongiovi’s managing director. “We give you the tools to take control of your own audio. A simple app now enables you to significantly improve the audio performance of your Apple device or any accessory you connect it to.”

Use the app to playback all of your portable audio and video files; it has its own built-in player. Once a track starts playing, hit the “B” button to get the Bongiovi boost. From there, the app promises to analyze and re-master the audio signal in real-time. You can also cycle through profile settings.

A few artists can’t get the extra help, due to licensing issues. However, Bongiovi says it’s just a few. You can check it out for yourself; the app is available now as a free download from the iTunes Store.
