After a week of older releases, it’s nice to see a few newer titles come to Blu-ray—even if it’s just a very few. That’s not to say that we don’t have a week of good releases. It’s hard to knock a few sci-fi cult favorites and an Oscar winner, right?
The pick of the week, however, is the first two seasons of The Big Bang Theory. Considering how the comedy is a mega-hit for CBS and about (hello!) geeks, you’d think the studio would have already given this show a high-def release. Seasons three and four were previously released on Blu-ray, so if you have those, you can complete your high-def collection with two separate purchases this week.
Also new for this week is American Reunion, the latest installment in the American Pie franchise. Was the 9-year lapse worth the wait? If you’re a fan of the films, it shouldn’t really matter—but this is probably the best the series has been since the original.
Did we miss one of your favorites for the week? Have something to say about one of this week’s new releases? Sound off in the comments below. Otherwise, all of these titles are out now, except where noted. Enjoy!
