PlayStation has become a major part of many home theaters. However, several users would love to share some of that goodness with the rest of the home. Back in June, Sony introduced a pint-sized solution, known as the PlayStation TV.
Now the company has started taking pre-orders on the PlayStation TV, with plans to ship on October 14, 2014.
The PlayStation TV (PS TV) is a small black box that measures 6.5-by-10.5 centimeters. It features the same chip sets as the PlayStation Vita and allows for remote play of select gaming content, as well as the PlayStation 4.
That basically means that users can start a PS4 game in the living room and continue on the PlayStation TV in a bedroom. Other features include access to the PlayStation Now beta service, a variety of streaming games and downloads, movies via the PlayStation Store, and much more. Users can tap into PlayStation TV content using DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 controllers; up to two of either can be connected to the PlayStation TV at a time.
Sony is taking pre-orders on the PlayStation TV now. It’s available as a stand-alone system for $99, as well as in a bundle. That package will include a wireless DualShock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, The Lego Movie Videogame, and a $139.99 MSRP.
