It’s been a good couple of months for Blu-ray. Aside from the recent news that sales have been pretty healthy in 2009 compared with last year, there were some good-looking and full-featured players announced at the CEDIA Expo last month.
After what the likes of Sony, Sharp and LG have released, it looks like Best Buy wants in on the Blu-ray streaming capabilities too.
The company has released two of its Insignia brand Blu-ray players to feature Netflix streaming as well, the NS-BRDVD3 and NS-WBRDVD models. They retail for $179 and $249, respectively.
And actually, at the moment big blue has the NS-WBRDVD model on sale for $199—which is a nice deal because this model also includes built-in Wi-Fi so you can wirelessly access that Netflix “Watch Instantly” queue. We’ll overlook the poor reviews on Best Buy’s site (there are only two, anyway) because of the small sample size, at least for now.
Both players feature 1080p output and upscaling, BD-Live, with a USB port, decoding for Dolby TrueHD, and can play MP3 and WMA files too. The Wi-Fi model also decodes DTS-HD MA audio.
