Best Buy wants a few good Black Friday VIPs
October 29, 2008 by Arlen Schweiger

Are you a super shopper? Have you spent enough on Black Friday over the years to warrant VIP treatment?

Best Buy is giving away the chance for 25 lucky shoppers to beat the Black Friday crowds this year, and even put $1,000 toward their purchase—which from what we’ve heard can get you a couple of 32-inch LCDs and a Blu-ray player this year.

The mega retailer has opened its “Black Friday VIP” contest that will run from now through November 18, 2008. Go to www.askablueshirt.com and click on the contest image for all the rules and to submit your entry—just tell them why you deserve to be a VIP with stories of why Black Friday shopping is a family tradition, or why you risk your lives navigating parking lots and mobs to grab $29 DVD players, $299 computers, Furbys and Cabbage Patch Dolls over the years.

The VIP treatment for the winner? It includes:

  • $1,000 Best Buy gift card
  • Limousine ride to and from Best Buy
  • On-site pampering and prizes for the winner and up to three guests
  • Admittance into the store at 4:30 a.m.
  • Chance to purchase up to four doorbusters
  • A Pure Digital Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder to document the Black Friday VIP experience

Your shopping spree has to be in one of 25 eligible Best Buy stores, in these markets: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington DC. Check here for the exact locations.

Shopping at 4:30? A real prize would be to keep the place closed until noon and let me shop whenever I show up. That’s how Oprah rolls!
