The Slingbox has been delivering live and recorded TV to viewers on the go for years. It’s really a pretty nifty invention. Belkin seemed to agree, so they are offering something very similar with the @TV plus.

The newly announced @TV box allows viewers to take both live and recorded TV anywhere in or outside of the house. All you need is a tablet, smartphone and/or laptop, the applicable @TV app, and a Wi-Fi or a 3G/4G network.

Belkin says that @TV can work with standard and high-definition programming from a digital cable box, satellite receiver, or DVD player. An on-screen channel guide makes it easy to tap into content from your mobile device of choice. Also, @TV has WiFi built in for recording content directly to the mobile for viewing offline.

“Americans have long had a love affair with TV, and now they are increasingly demanding the ability to access their TV content wherever and whenever they want. It’s no longer enough to record content to watch later,” said Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin. “With @TV you aren’t limited to certain channels, and you have full access to both recorded content and live TV, so it’s easy to watch the game in the backyard or your favorite movie at the dentist.”

Belkin is making the @TV mobile app free for tablets, but it will cost smartphone users $12.99. It’s available now at both the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Android Market. The box should be coming along soon, with an MSRP of $149.99.
