Belkin is adding a little security into the WeMo lineup. The new NetCam HD+ isn’t technically a WeMo-branded product, but it can work with those devices to create a fully automated setup.
The new NetCam HD+ is a Wi-Fi camera that can provide a 720p peek at your home day and night using a PC, as well as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. It boasts a wide-angle glass lens, night vision, cloud storage (for a monthly fee), motion detection, and more.
As mentioned, it also works with Belkin’s WeMo lineup. This means that users can create “rules” in the free WeMo app, which can trigger activities based on the installed WeMo solutions. For instance, users can set up a rule that enables the WeMo Insight Switch to turn on a light when someone triggers the NetCam HD+‘s motion detection.
Also worth mentioning is the new Push to Talk function. This allows you to watch what’s going on in the home and have two-way conversations via the camera’s built-in microphone.
Belkin is selling the NetCam HD+ now, with an MSRP of $129.99. The cloud storage option records and stores HD video anytime the camera detects motion. That’s available at no cost for the first 30 days. After that, expect to pay $9.99 per month or $99.99 for a one-year subscription.
