Bang & Olufsen is always good for an ogle. Besides prices beyond the average AV budget, the company’s products are usually pretty gorgeous—and the newly announced BeoPlay V1 is no exception.
Boasting “flexible placement possibilities,” the BeoPlay V1 is the first TV to come out of the company’s new B&O PLAY brand. That flexibility basically means that you don’t have to wall-mount it. You really don’t have to do that with any TV, although it’s a nice option.
If you don’t opt to put this one up on a pedestal, it has a rugged steel cabinet and a stainless steel stand that you can connect to all four corners.
On the inside, the BeoPlay V1 promises a powerful video engine, Class D ICEpower amplifiers and easy connectivity—especially for Apple TV users. The BeoPlay V1 has a little spot for Apple’s small set-top box to live, right behind the TV cabinet so it’s out of sight and keeps the clutter to a minimum.
Other features on the side-lit LED include a full 1080p HD image, a 100Hz refresh rate, five HDMI inputs and a USB port.
Available in 32- and 40-inch models, B&O is shipping the BeoPlay V1 with its own remote and a variety of fabric sleeves, so you can add a splash of color behind the front speaker grill. Expect the BeoPlay V1 to be available in black and white by the end of this month. It will be priced at £1,999 ($3,229 U.S.) and £2,499 ($4,036 U.S.), respectively.
