Not surprisingly, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will deliver the pre-show keynote at International CES for the third straight year.
The 2011 CES will take place Jan. 6-9 in Las Vegas. Ballmer will deliver the speech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Las Vegas Hilton Center.
Ballmer and Intel CEO Paul Otellini spoke at CES 2010. Ballmer has spoken at CES annually since Bill Gates delivered his final keynote at the event in 2008.
In 2009, Ballmer announced the availability of Windows 7 beta, while in 2010 he showed off a Windows-based Hewlett-Packard tablet (reportedly has been shelved) and announced Project Natal (now Kinect) would be available come the holiday season.
“As leader of one of the world’s most innovative technology companies, a keynote address from Steve Ballmer is the perfect way to kick off the 2011 International CES,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Microsoft’s entrepreneurial spirit and drive have been major forces behind the success of the company and its impact on the global consumer technology industry. We look forward to hearing Steve’s strategic vision for the future of Microsoft and our industry.”
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) will unveil the full lineup of 2011 CES keynotes “in the coming months.”
