Balanced Music Concept (B.M.C.) Audio is cranking out something a little more affordable for its line. Featuring a built-in headphone amplifier, the PureDAC Digital-to-Analog Converter promises to deliver an audiophile-quality performance.

Now, when we say it’s affordable, know that this is in comparison to the rest of B.M.C.‘s Reference-level models. However, the $1,600 unit promises to be a high-quality DAC with a reference-level headphone amplifier, a balanced preamplifier, and B.M.C.‘s own Digital Intelligent Gain Management (DIGM). The latter is a volume and amp control system that can calibrate gain without messing with the input signal.

The PureDAC has separate volume controls for the amp and preamp and B.M.C.‘s Load Effect Free (LEF) technology. Other features include a high-res asynchronous USB interface, digital AES/EBU, Toslink and coaxial inputs, balanced analog outputs, RCA output jacks, and a special B.M.C. link for connecting directly to a B.M.C. amplifier.

B.M.C. says that the PureSeries will also include the PurePhono Preamplifier and the PurePhono Amplifier.

The company plans to make the PureDAC Digital-to-Analog Converter available to B.M.C. dealers sometime in the first quarter of 2013. The MSRP on the product will be $1,600.
