Auvi is throwing their PHIP65 into the overcrowded lot of VoIP-enabled phones. Like a few we’ve seen recently, the PHIP65 allows you to combine VoIP and your home phone into one single cordless. That means your parents can nag you in a variety of locations—for cheap!
You also won’t have to worry about cordless static. This unit is based on DECT technology, which boosts performance while cutting interference with other home appliances.
To make calls via the Web, you will need a Skype subscription, and that’s the only service (that we know of) that this product works with.
The neatest feature about this phone is that you can set different ringtones for landline and/or Skype calls. Maybe there’s still a chance to avoid Mom and Dad after all!
Skype calls may be cheap, but the PHIP65 isn’t at $130. An additional handset (the PHIP651) will be available in December for around 80 bucks.
